Juja MP George Koimburi has launched a smartphone ownership programme that will allow more than 2,000 residents to acquire new phones through a flexible payment plan.
Under the initiative dubbed “Angamiza Katululu”, beneficiaries will pay Ksh 5,000 upfront before clearing the remaining balance at Ksh100 per day for one year.
Residents to receive digital training
Koimburi said participants will not only receive smartphones but will also be connected to trainers who will help them gain digital skills and understand how to use online services.
“This is Operation Fagia Katululu. You will be given the number of a teacher who will train you on computers, online matters and everything you need to know. And today, you are going home with a new phone worth Ksh 40,000, an Infinix. Enjoy it,” he said.

The programme is intended to give residents easier access to digital platforms, including online services, communication tools and opportunities that require smartphone connectivity.
Beneficiaries will repay the balance gradually, with the Ksh100 daily payment spread across a year instead of requiring them to settle the full cost of the device at once.
Koimburi’s focus on youth empowerment
Koimburi, who has represented Juja in Parliament since winning a 2021 by-election, has also pursued initiatives targeting education, skills development and infrastructure in the constituency.
His constituency programmes have included support for vocational training, with young people receiving opportunities to acquire technical skills through partnerships with training institutions.
He has also been involved in projects touching on roads, schools, markets and health facilities within Juja.

With the smartphone programme, Koimburi is expanding his focus to digital access, combining device ownership with training for residents expected to benefit from the initiative.
More than 2,000 residents are expected to be reached through the programme, with beneficiaries paying for their devices progressively rather than meeting the full cost upfront.
