Kenya Railways has announced additional Madaraka Express passenger service trains for Friday, November 14, and Saturday, November 15, 2025, to accommodate the surge in passenger demand during the busy mid-November period.

According to a public notice issued on November 13, the extra trips will serve the Mombasa–Nairobi and Nairobi–Mombasa routes, departing at 9:45 a.m. on both days.

The move comes as the railway operator seeks to ease congestion and provide travelers with more flexible options amid increased travel activity.

For the northbound journey from Mombasa to Nairobi, the additional train will depart Mombasa Terminus at 9:45 a.m., arrive in Voi at 11:21 a.m., leave Voi at 11:26 a.m., and reach Nairobi at 3:48 p.m.

Kenya Railways urged passengers to book their tickets early through the official platform, www.metickets.krc.co.ke, via the USSD code *639#, or by visiting any Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) station across the country.

“We encourage passengers to book their tickets early to secure their seats,” the notice read, explaining that the extra services are part of ongoing efforts to enhance customer experience and efficiency on the Madaraka Express.

The move comes ahead of the ODM @ 20 celebrations scheduled to take place in Mombasa this weekend, an event expected to draw large crowds from across the country.

The increase in travel demand along the Nairobi–Mombasa route is partly attributed to supporters and delegates traveling to attend the milestone anniversary.
