Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has announced that he will sponsor a bill compelling the government to pay civil servants every two weeks.

In a statement on Sunday, November 30, Salasy said he learnt workers in the United States (US) are paid after every fortnight to ensure there is money in circulation.

He explained that it helps prevent the citizens from relying on loans to survive throughout the month, leading to cases of depression.

“Good morning from America, here it’s 7:30 AM. One thing I have learned about why people here in America are paid within 2 weeks is to ensure money is in the circulation throughout it helps people not to rely on soft loans throughout which leads to many people into depressed,” Salasya said.

Salasya said he will sponsor a bill in Parliament that allows the government and companies to pay Kenyans every two weeks.

“As I jet back to the country very soon, I will publish a bill that allows government and companies to pay Kenyans within two weeks,” he said.
