Many Kenyans who grew up in the early 2010’s witnessed Camp Mulla at their peak in the music industry. They were a music group that had fans praising their music.
With their catchy music and unique voices that blended together hip hop, and a mix of R&B, Camp Mulla quickly rose into fame in the music industry in Kenya.
Songs such as “Party Don’t Stop,” “Hold It Down,” “Addicted,” and “Fresh All Day” dominated playlists and introduced a fresh wave of Kenyan music that many listeners felt could compete on the global stage.
Their fashion, confidence, and youthful energy also made them stand out from many local bands at the time.
Camp Mulla’s Rise To Fame
Camp Mulla’s rise was historic. In 2012, they became the first Kenyan music act to receive a nomination at the BET Awards in the Best International Act: Africa category.
The achievement placed Kenyan urban music on a bigger continental platform and proved that local artists could attract international recognition.
However, at the peak of their success, the group shocked fans with their decision to part ways in 2013.
According to reports during that time, members Miss Karun and Taio Tripper left to pursue university studies and solo careers abroad, while the other members also began focusing on their personal projects.

Camp Mulla Separation
Their breakup left many fans heartbroken, especially because Camp Mulla appeared to be years ahead of their time.
Even years later, many Kenyans still describe their music as timeless and unlike anything else in the local industry then.
Camp Mulla attempted a reunion in 2017 and even hinted at releasing new music. However, the comeback did not fully materialise.
In later interviews, Miss Karun admitted that trying to reunite reopened old wounds and became difficult for the members involved.
Latest Performance In Nairobi
Now, more than a decade after their split, Camp Mulla has once again sparked excitement after reuniting for a performance during the Kulture Experience event in Nairobi.
