Ciggie Johnson is a Kenyan club host and digital personality who has recently found himself at the centre of public debate after remarks he made during an interview on Obinna Show Live sparked criticism on social media.
The entertainer, whose real name is Ciggie Okebiro, recently attracted widespread criticism following his appearance on Obinna Show Live, where he spoke about his dating preferences.
Ciggie Johnson Faces Backlash, His Education and Background
During the interview, he said he would not date women who are plus-size or very tall, describing them as his personal deal-breakers.
However, the conversation generated even greater backlash after he used the phrase “mweusi sura mbaya”, with many social media users accusing him of promoting colourism and body shaming.

Following the backlash, Ciggie defended himself through social media, arguing that his comments had been taken out of context.
He maintained that the term dark-skinned had been misinterpreted by critics and denied intending to demean dark-skinned women.
Meanwhile, Ciggie Johnson was born in Kisumu City and is a member of the Luo community.
Although Ciggie Johnson is active on social media, his exact age has not been made public, but he celebrates his birthday around June 21 each year
He attended St. Mary’s School Yala before pursuing a degree in Mass Communication at KCA University.
Career and Rise to Fame
Ciggie Johnson became famous after appearing on the reality television show Nairobi Diaries, which introduced him to a wider audience.
He later established himself as one of Kenya’s best-known elite club hosts, building a brand around nightlife, lifestyle, and premium entertainment events.

Besides hosting, Ciggie also works in event production, helping coordinate sound systems, stage setup, screens and other entertainment logistics for major events.

Ciggie was previously a close friend of socialite Vera Sidika, who frequently appeared alongside her during club appearances across the country, particularly in Eldoret and Nairobi.
