Fire Breaks Out at Summerville Estate in Syokimau Near Gateway Mall

A house caught fire at Summerville Estate in Syokimau, near Gateway Mall, on the night of September 29, 2026.

The incident occurred at the residential estate as efforts to extinguish the blaze got underway.

At the time of reporting, authorities had not confirmed the cause of the fire or whether it had spread to other properties within the estate.

There were also no confirmed reports of injuries or casualties, while authorities had yet to establish the extent of damage to the affected house.

Recent Fire Incidents Reported Across Kenya

The Summerville Estate incident comes amid several fire outbreaks reported in different parts of Kenya in recent weeks.

On September 24, a two-year-old child died after a fire broke out in an apartment in the Kobil area of Embakasi, Nairobi.

Police said a tenant noticed smoke coming from a first-floor house and alerted the caretaker before members of the public and a Nairobi County Government fire engine responded.

Earlier, on September 7, a fire destroyed shops along Kapiti Road in South B, Nairobi.

The blaze broke out around midnight and reportedly spread towards the nearby Golden Gate Estate.

Authorities had not established the cause or full extent of the damage at the time.

Hill School Blaze

Similarly, a fire at Hill School in Eldoret on September 22 destroyed a dormitory that housed 340 Form Three and Form Four students.

No injuries were reported because the students were attending morning preparations when the fire broke out.

Another fire broke out at a garage off Ole Dume Road in Kilimani on September 7, destroying several vehicles.

Nairobi County officials said the fire involved vehicles, petrol and other flammable materials and took several hours to contain.

Overall, the recent incidents have affected residential buildings, commercial premises and learning institutions in different parts of the country.

For the Summerville Estate fire, authorities had yet to confirm the cause, extent of damage or any casualties by the latest available update.
