GSU Crowned 2026 Mozzart Kenya Cup Champions Again, DCI Queens Finish Third

The General Service Unit (GSU) men’s volleyball team successfully defended the 2026 Mozzart Kenya Cup after defeating Chema Volleyball Club in straight sets.

Meanwhile, the DCI Queens claimed third position with a spirited victory over Kenya Prisons. Both matches took place on 26 July 2026 at the Kasarani Indoor Arena.

The National Police Service (NPS) praised both teams for their outstanding performances. Their determination, teamwork, and resilience once again strengthened the NPS reputation as a sports powerhouse.

GSU Dominates Final to Defend National Crown

GSU started strongly under head coach Gideon Tarus. Brian Meli inspired the team with exceptional energy and control throughout the match.

First, GSU secured the opening set 25–20. Next, the team edged the second set 25–21 to take a commanding 2–0 lead. Finally, they sealed the title with a convincing 25–19 victory in the third set.

Several GSU players also earned individual honours. Nicholas Matui won the Most Valuable Player award. Hudson Kipchumba received the Best Libero award. Joshua Kimaru claimed the Best Outside Hitter award, while Brian Meli took home the Best Setter award.

DCI Queens Fight Back to Finish Third

Earlier in the day, the DCI Women’s Volleyball team produced an impressive performance to defeat Kenya Prisons and finish third in the tournament.

The DCI Queens opened confidently and won the first two sets 25–22 and 25–23. However, Kenya Prisons responded with victories of 25–9 and 26–24 to force a deciding fifth set.

Although Kenya Prisons led 8–6, the DCI Queens refused to surrender. They fought back to level the score from 14–14 to 16–16. Thereafter, coach Patrick Sang made crucial rotational changes that disrupted the wardresses’ attack. Consequently, the DCI Queens held their nerve and secured a dramatic 19–17 victory.

The National Police Service congratulated both the GSU Volleyball Team and the DCI Queens for their remarkable achievements. Their exceptional skills, resilience, and teamwork showcased the strength of NPS sports on the national stage.
