Share

National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has announced plans to replace the current paper based motor vehicle logbook with a digital version known as the electronic Motor Vehicle Registration Certificate (eLogbook).

In a public notice issued on May 12, 2026, the NTSA said this move is part of its broader digital transformation and road safety initiatives, which are aimed at modernising operations and improving service delivery.

NTSA stated that the electronic logbook system will officially go live on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

According to NTSA, the eLogbook will be fully integrated into all motor vehicle registration services.

What NTSA eLogbook Entails

This will include new vehicle registration, transfer of ownership, change of particulars, inspection processes, and other related transactions.

Vehicle owners will be able to access, view, download, and verify their digital logbooks through their eCitizen accounts upon completion of their transactions.

NTSA explained that the new system is expected to improve efficiency by reducing the processing timelines and delays which are associated with manual documentation.

Further, the Authority stated that the eLogbook will enhance security by reducing the risk of document forgery, loss, and tampering through advanced digital safeguards.

This system will also minimise opportunities for corruption and improve the user experience for the public.

To support the rollout, NTSA has organised a series of virtual sensitisation and training sessions for different stakeholder groups.

The sensitisation programme is set to begin on May 25, 2026, with sessions for vehicle body builders, motor vehicle dealers, and motorcycle dealers starting at 9:00 a.m.
