Obinna Warns of Next Steps After Ksh10 Million Defamation Demand Against Mosiria

Media personality Oga Obinna has broken his silence after his lawyers issued a Ksh 10 million demand to Geoffrey Mosiria over allegedly defamatory statements he made on TikTok and other social media platforms.
In an Instagram post shared on September 26, Obinna said the deadline had expired and suggested that the matter would now proceed to the next stage.
He also addressed the issue of defamation, noting that many people do not fully understand what constitutes defamation or the potentially costly legal consequences that can result from it.
“Ni Ushugu sanaaaa!! Nayo nayo. Hata sitaki mingi just 10M. Siku Saba zili-isha, we proceed. Wengi wenu hamjui Defamation ni nini,na how Lucrative it can be ukishika tu mmoja wao. Wacha niwashow,” Obinna wrote on his Instagram.
Lawyers Demand Apology Over Alleged Defamatory Claims
According to the demand letter, Obinna’s lawyers want Mosiria to immediately stop publishing, repeating, circulating, sharing, or reposting what they described as defamatory allegations concerning their client, Obinna.

They also demanded that Mosiria issue a retraction and apology with similar prominence, placement, duration and audience reach as the alleged defamatory publications.
“IMMEDIATELY issue an unequivocal public apology to our client through newspapers of wide circulation in Kenya and provide a written undertaking addressed to our client that you cease from any further future publication of false and defamatory statements against our client,” the demand letter read.
The lawyers further demanded that the apology acknowledge that allegations linking Obinna to accidents, deaths, suicide, addiction, humiliation, loss of fortune, loss of popularity and the destruction of the careers of people who appeared on his programmes were false and lacked factual foundation.
They also called for a public apology through newspapers with wide circulation in the country and a written undertaking that Mosiria would refrain from making further statements that the lawyers described as false and defamatory.

Obinna Demands Ksh10 Million in Damages
The lawyers also demanded KSh10 million in damages, citing alleged reputational injury, distress, embarrassment and damage to Obinna’s standing and goodwill.

They also demanded that Mosiria delete copies, extracts, clips, reposts and reproductions of the alleged defamatory material from his TikTok account and any other social media platforms under his control.
According to the letter, Mosiria had been given seven days to comply with the demands.
The lawyers warned that failure to meet the demands within the stated period would lead to legal proceedings against him without further reference.
“TAKE NOTICE that unless you comply with the terms of this demand within the next SEVEN (7) DAYS, we have firm and mandatory Instructions to institute legal proceedings against you without further reference to you at your own peril as to costs. Be advised accordingly, ” read part of the demand letter.
However, Obinna has indicated that the seven-day period has elapsed but did not provide further details on whether legal proceedings had already been filed.
