PS Fikirini Breaks Silence After Fatal Shooting of Cecil Ouma Allegedly by Bodyguard

Youth Affairs Principal Secretary Fikirini Jacobs has recorded a statement with police following the fatal shooting of Cecil Ouma, who was killed on Tuesday in Kariokor, Nairobi.

Speaking at the Nairobi County Police Headquarters after recording his statement, Fikirini said he is committed to cooperating fully with investigators and ensuring all the facts surrounding the incident are established.

“I have responded to the station investigative team to record my statement as to what really transpired, and already I think, as it was shared by several people, including three from my office, have already been summoned and equally shared their side,” he said.

The Principal Secretary added that he would remain available to investigators throughout the probe.

“My commitment is to continue to make myself available for any investigation pertaining to this tragic death. We will continue to support the family and make myself available upon request by the investigative agency.”

Fikirini also extended his condolences to Ouma’s family following the tragic incident.

The PS’s remarks came shortly after a post-mortem examination established that Ouma died from a single gunshot wound.

Ouma was reportedly shot dead inside the Principal Secretary’s vehicle shortly after leaving a Kikao programme in Kariokor.

The incident has shocked leaders and residents, with detectives launching investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing.

The statement was recorded as part of the ongoing investigation into Tuesday’s shooting, with police indicating that the Principal Secretary is cooperating with investigators as they work to establish the circumstances surrounding Ouma’s death.

Detectives Question Witnesses in the Fikirini Case

Police have so far questioned several people who were present during the incident, including the Principal Secretary’s security officers and other occupants of the vehicle.

Investigators have also recovered firearms assigned to the officers for ballistic examination as they seek to determine which weapon fired the fatal shot.
