Ruto Assigns Kindiki New Role in Latest Directive, Gives CS Ogamba New Task

President William Ruto has directed Deputy President Kithure Kindiki to coordinate government support for a new national talent search programme aimed at identifying and developing young talent across Kenya.

Speaking during the 98th Kenya Music Festival State Concert in Bungoma on August 14, Ruto said Kindiki would ensure the initiative receives government support and coordination at all levels.

“The Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya, who coordinates between the national government and the cities, will ensure that this receives full government support and coordination at all levels,” Ruto said.

Ruto Orders National Talent Search to Identify Young Kenyan Talent

According to the president, the programme is expected to provide a platform for identifying talented young Kenyans and supporting them to develop their skills and potentially turn their talents into sources of income.

It will focus on various fields, including music, comedy, acting, poetry, film, dance and sports, among others.

In addition, Ruto highlighted that the initiative would be conducted throughout the year and across different parts of Kenya to ensure young people have opportunities to showcase and develop their abilities.

“Kenya has no shortage of talent. Our challenge is to discover and develop it,” Ruto said.

The President also proposed “Kenya Beyond 2030” as the inaugural theme for the national talent search.

He said the theme would allow young people to express their ideas about the country’s future through creative activities and directed that school creative events incorporate the theme starting next year.

Ogamba Directed to Provide Ksh5 Million to Schools

Ruto also directed Education CS Julius Ogamba to provide Ksh5 million to every institution and school that participated in the 98th Kenya Music Festival State Concert.

He said the funds would help participating institutions improve infrastructure used by young creatives.

“I am asking the Ministry of Education to provide Ksh5 million for every institution and school that has participated here so that you can improve some of the infrastructure used by these creatives,” Ruto said.

The President said Kenya’s young people should be given opportunities to use their creativity to contribute to the country’s development.

He said the national talent search would help the government identify young people with potential while creating opportunities for them to develop their skills and generate income.
