Ruto Sends Heartfelt Message Ahead of State Address

President William Ruto has shared an emotional message with Kenyans ahead of his special national address scheduled for Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.

The video, shared by State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohammed on Thursday morning, reflects on Kenya’s development journey and urges citizens to play an active role in building the country’s future.

It opens with the message that a nation’s success is not determined by where it started or where it stands today, but by the future its people dare to build.

“A nation is not ultimately defined by where it begins or where it stands today, but by the future it dares to build,” the video says.

The narration goes on to highlight how countries such as Singapore, Malaysia and China transformed their economies within a generation through determination and long-term planning, while warning that nations that fail to pursue progress risk falling behind.

“It is time for us to raise the bar of our ambitions, to demand more of ourselves, and to shape a new vision for Kenya,” the narration says.

Projects Highlighted in the Video

Alongside the message, the video showcases several of the government’s flagship projects and programmes.

Among them is the Talanta Sports City Stadium, which is expected to be one of the venues for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

It also features the ongoing Ksh 31.7 billion renovation of the Bomas of Kenya, which will include an 11,000-seat convention centre with 54 modern meeting rooms.

The video further highlights the Affordable Housing Programme, under which thousands of housing units have been built in different parts of the country to provide affordable homes and create jobs.

Another major project featured is the dualling of the Rironi–Mau Summit Highway. The project involves upgrading about 170 kilometres of the existing single-carriageway road into a modern four-lane dual carriageway to improve transport between Nairobi, Nakuru and western Kenya.

The message goes on to say that building the country is not the responsibility of leaders or the government alone but of every Kenyan.

Quoting the Constitution, the video reminds Kenyans that sovereign power belongs to the people and calls on them to take charge of the country’s future.

“As the Constitution commands, all sovereign power belongs to the people of Kenya… We, the people, shall take charge of the national conversation of our collective future, together,” the video states.

The address is expected to focus on Kenya’s future, the government’s development agenda and the country’s progress.

Unlike the annual State of the Nation Address delivered before a joint sitting of Parliament under Article 132 of the Constitution, Thursday evening’s speech will be a separate national address from State House.
