Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua stated on June 7 that he is ready to accept the High Court’s decision in his impeachment case, scheduled to be released on Monday, June 8th, and urged supporters to maintain peace regardless of the outcome.
Speaking at PCEA Karen church, Gachagua expressed confidence in the independence of the judiciary and expected a fair ruling on the politically motivated case which has now been heard and is expected to be determined Monday, June 8th.
“I ask you to pray for us. I was illegally and unconstitutionally removed from office. The case has been heard, and the verdict is out tomorrow, we accept whatever outcome,” Gachagua told the church.
He stated that a favorable ruling by the three-judge bench, confirming he was not treated fairly and quashing the impeachment, would prove the strength of Kenya’s justice system.
“If three judges say we were treated unconstitutionally and unprocedurally, remove that illegal impeachment and let us go our own way, God will be glorified, and the system will work in this country,” he said.
