Weatherman Met Predicts Rain andThunderstorms in Several Counties This Week

The Kenya Meteorological Service (KMD) has forecast dryness in most parts of the country; however, it says some counties may receive rainfall.
According to its latest forecast for August 11 to 17, 2026, counties like Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Kericho, Nyandarua, and Nyeri are parts of the country that may receive rainfall.
Intermittent cool and cloudy conditions will be expected in some parts of Embu, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Meru, Murang’a, Nairobi, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Tharaka Nithi, Nakuru, Machakos, Kajiado, and Wajir.
In counties like Kilifi, Tana River, Wajir, Lamu, Garissa, Isiolo, Marsabit, Turkana, Bungoma, Busia, and Kakamega, daytime average temperatures of thirty degrees Celsius are expected.
Nighttime Weather
Nighttime minimum average temperatures are expected to be less than ten degrees Celsius in some parts of Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Nyeri, Laikipia, Nakuru, Narok, and Kajiado.
Mombasa, Kwale and Kilifi counties may experience morning showers, while morning cloudiness may occur in some parts of Embu, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Meru, Nakuru, Machakos, and Taita Taveta.

Meanwhile, sunny intervals are expected in the mornings in parts of Baringo, Bomet, Bungoma, Busia, Garissa, Homa Bay, Isiolo, Kakamega, Kericho, Kisii, Kitui, Kwale, Lamu, Vihiga, and West Pokot.
At the same time, afternoon showers and thunderstorms are likely to occur in a few parts of Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Busia, Kakamega, Nandi, Kericho, Nakuru, and Samburu counties.
Sunny Intervals
Additionally, sunny intervals are expected in the afternoon in most parts of Bomet, Garissa, Homa Bay, Isiolo, Kajiado, Kilifi, Kisumu, Kitui, Kwale, Lamu, Machakos, Makueni, Mandera, and Marsabit counties.
Night showers may occur in a few parts of Bungoma and Trans Nzoia counties, while on the other hand, partly cloudy conditions are expected in Baringo, Bomet, Busia, Embu, Garissa, Isiolo, Kajiado, Migori, Mombasa, Turkana, and Nandi counties.

Lodwar is expected to record the highest maximum temperature at 37°C, followed by Mandera at 37°C, Garissa at 36°C and Wajir at 34°C. Mombasa, Mt. Wapa, Malindi, Msabaha, Lamu and Kisumu are expected to record maximum temperatures of between 29°C and 31°C.
On the other hand, Nyahururu is expected to record the lowest minimum temperature at 6°C, followed by Narok at 8°C, while Machakos, Kericho, Meru and Nairobi are expected to record minimum temperatures of 9°C to 10°C.
