Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has lined up a packed week of court appearances involving senior officials, former public servants, and business operators in cases touching on alleged fraud, corruption and recovery of public assets.

The proceedings will run from June 2 to June 5, 2026, across multiple courts in Kenya.

These cases span judgments, hearings and mentions that target billions of shillings in disputed public funds.

EACC brings several high-value claims to court, starting with a Kes1.6 billion recovery case involving Billy Otieno Obango and others.

The commission seeks to trace funds it says originated from the National Treasury.

“A suit for recovery of Kes1.6 billion fraudulently and illegally acquired from the National Treasury,” EACC stated.

Meanwhile, Kirimi Peter Kaberia and five others appear in a separate case where the commission challenges a Kes220.4 million advance payment.

EACC pushes for the cancellation of a disputed tender and the recovery of the funds.

Sonko and Co-accused Face EACC on Conflict of Interest Charges

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko appears among 26 respondents in a conflict of interest case at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court.

The case alleges misappropriation of Kes24.1 million from Nairobi City County funds. EACC argues that private companies collaborated with public officials to divert county resources.

Court Targets Ghost Workers and Unexplained Wealth

In another major file, the court challenges a Kes468.4 million loss at the National Museum of Kenya.

The commission links the amount to payments made to ghost employees.

Additionally, investigators pursue forfeiture against Andrew Biketi and five others over Kes283 million in unexplained wealth.

The commission ties the assets to earnings accumulated during public service.

“A suit for recovery of Kes342.9 million being the accumulated unexplained assets acquired while the 1st respondent was an employee of the Nairobi City County Government,” the listing read.

EACC also moves against county officials accused of procurement fraud and abuse of office.

Esther Chege, a Kenya Rural Roads Authority employee, faces allegations of using proxies and relatives to secure government contracts.

Similarly, Collins Sila and two others face charges tied to mismanagement of Kes32 million in conditional grants from international partners, including WHO and Danida.

Land Disputes and Public Asset Recovery Widen Scope

The commission extends its reach into land recovery cases.

One matter targets a Kericho Municipality property valued at Kes21.5 million, which authorities say individuals illegally acquired despite its public designation.

Another case seeks recovery of land parcels linked to Pumwani Maternity Hospital expansion, which EACC claims private individuals grabbed unlawfully.

This week’s docket shows the scale of alleged losses, from thousands to billions of shillings, as courts hear disputes involving senior officials, former governors and public officers.
