Six people have been confirmed dead and 35 others injured following a tragic road accident involving a Tahmeed bus along the Nairobi–Mombasa Highway between Machakos Junction and Kathumani Junction.

According to the Long Distance Drivers and Conductors Association of Kenya (LODCA), the accident occurred on the night of July 7, involving the Tahmeed bus and several other vehicles.

Videos seen by Hivileo showed multiple vehicles involved in the crash, with emergency responders and motorists gathering at the accident site.

Eyewitnesses who identified the Tahmeed bus registration as KDL 079S said the collision involved at least six vehicles and prompted an immediate response from rescue teams.

In addition, the eyewitness added that emergency responders were working to evacuate passengers trapped inside the Tahmeed bus and the other vehicles involved in the crash.

Following the accident, Kenya Bus World (KBW™) issued a message wishing those injured a quick recovery.

The organisation expressed its support for the victims and hoped that all those receiving treatment would recover fully.

Meanwhile, emergency responders remained at the scene as recovery operations continued, with more details expected once police and other relevant authorities issue an official update on the cause of the accident and the extent of the damage.

Authorities had not, by the time of publication, released a comprehensive statement detailing the condition of those injured or the circumstances that led to the crash.

Police are expected to provide further information after completing preliminary investigations.

Kenyans Blame Drivers For Increasing  Accidents

The accident sparked mixed reactions online, with some Kenyans raising concerns about road safety and public transport operations.

Some members of the public, such as John Maina, have alleged that the drivers who operate the involved bus are usually arrogant and ignorant of the traffic rules, which is the reason for accidents involving the bus company.

While some claim that the accidents are mostly the fault of drivers and vehicle operators, and even state that they cannot use the Tahmeed company for travel, James Kavila has differed from this opinion.

According to John Kavila, the accidents most likely occur due to the road structure, and have called for the expansion of highway roads to allow for effective transportation.
