Infotrak Raises Alarm Over Fake Poll Purporting to Show Ol-Kalou By-Election Results

Infotrak Research and Consulting has alerted Kenyans about a fake opinion poll graphic circulating on social media that falsely claims to show parliamentary results for the Ol Kalou by-election.

In an advisory issued on July 21, 2026, Infotrak said the graphic had spread widely online while using the company’s name and branding without approval.

The firm said the information presented in the graphic does not come from any of its research.

“Infotrak Research & Consulting cautions that the graphic circulating on Social Media and WhatsApp, purporting to present an Ol-Kalou parliamentary by-election opinion poll, DID NOT ORIGINATE FROM INFOTRAK and does not represent our research, methodology, or findings,” Infotrak stated.

Additionally, Infotrak said it did not carry out or publish the alleged Ol Kalou by-election opinion poll, urging the public to avoid relying on the graphic, saying it does not represent any of its official research findings.

“Infotrak did not conduct or publish the alleged opinion poll. The circulating graphic is fabricated, does not reflect our research or findings and should not be attributed to our organization,” the advisory added.

Red Flags in Ol Kalou By-Election Circulating Poll

Infotrak pointed out several issues that raised concerns about the fake graphic, including the wrong company name, an incorrect logo, a fake website address, and a layout that does not match its usual publications.

As a result, the firm said these signs confirm the graphic is not an official Infotrak publication and urged Kenyans to stay cautious when they come across similar content online and verify information before sharing it.

Infotrak added that the unauthorized use of its name and branding can mislead the public and weaken trust in genuine research.

Infotrak Warns of Legal Action

Infotrak said it is collecting evidence and taking necessary steps to address the misuse of its name and brand.

“We condemn the imitation of our name, logo, and brand. Infotrak is preserving evidence, pursuing appropriate reporting and takedown measures, and reserves the right to take legal action against those responsible for creating or deliberately distributing the fraudulent graphic,” Infotrak added.

Therefore, the firm urged Kenyans to verify opinion polls through official sources and check for important details, including the research organisation behind the poll, the methodology used and proper publication references.
