The incident has raised concerns among residents over the preparedness and response time of emergency services in the area, particularly during fires that can spread rapidly through businesses and kiosks.
Meanwhile, the cause of the fire had not been officially established by the time of publication.
Mogotio Fire Raises Fresh Concerns Over Emergency Response in Baringo
The Marurui fire comes a week after a similar incident was reported in Mogotio town, Baringo County, where several businesses were destroyed by a fire that broke out on Saturday night.
The Mogotio blaze started at around 11 pm on August 15, leaving traders counting significant losses after the fire razed their business premises.
Footage showed a massive fire consuming the businesses, while thick smoke billowed into the night as onlookers watched from a distance.

According to witnesses, firefighters and emergency responders arrived at the scene late, by which time significant damage had already been caused.
The incident renewed calls for the Baringo County Government to strengthen firefighting and emergency response services in Mogotio.
Mogotio Member of Parliament Reuben Kiborek also questioned why the growing municipality does not have a dedicated firefighting vehicle to respond to emergencies and help protect lives and property.
