A fire broke out in Marurui, Kiambu County, overnight, destroying kiosks and other property as residents and business owners struggled to contain the blaze.

Videos seen by Hivileo show flames engulfing parts of the area, with business owners making desperate attempts to put out the fire as it rapidly spread.

As a result, the alleged delay reportedly left business owners and residents attempting to contain the blaze using available means, including buckets of water, as flames continued to consume property.

The incident has raised concerns among residents over the preparedness and response time of emergency services in the area, particularly during fires that can spread rapidly through businesses and kiosks.

Meanwhile, the cause of the fire had not been officially established by the time of publication.
