Kenya Met Lists Areas to Experience Rainfall in the Last Weekend of May

The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has listed areas likely to receive rainfall during the last weekend of May 2026.
In its weather forecast published on Friday, May 29, covering the period from May 30 to June 3, 2026, Kenya Met said rainfall is expected in parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, the Coast, the South-eastern Lowlands, and North-eastern Kenya
Highlands West of Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin and Rift Valley Weather Forecast
According to the weatherman, the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley will experience morning rainfall in a few areas from Saturday, May 30, to Monday, June 1, while the remaining days are expected to be sunny.

Afternoons in the region will be characterised by showers and thunderstorms throughout the forecast period.
At night, showers are expected in a few areas, except on Wednesday, June 3, when conditions will be partly cloudy.
The affected counties include Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot.
In the North-western region, covering Turkana and Samburu counties, sunny intervals are expected during the mornings and afternoons, while nights will be partly cloudy.
Kenya Met Weather Forecast for Nairobi and its Environs
For the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, which includes Nairobi and its environs, light morning rainfall is expected in a few areas throughout the forecast period.
Afternoon showers are also forecast in a few places, with a chance of showers persisting into the night.
Other counties in this region include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi and Nairobi.
North-eastern region
Elsewhere, the North-eastern region comprising Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo counties is expected to receive rainfall in a few areas during most of the forecast period. However, sunny intervals are likely on Sunday, May 31, and Wednesday, June 3.

Afternoon showers are also forecast in a few areas, while nights are expected to remain cloudy with a chance of showers.
In the South-eastern Lowlands region, comprising Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta counties, as well as the inland parts of Tana River County, mornings are expected to be sunny throughout the forecast period.
Afternoons will see occasional showers in a few places, while nights will generally remain cloudy, with isolated showers expected in some areas.
In the Coast region, covering Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale counties, as well as the Tana Delta, showers are expected over several places during the mornings.
Night-time conditions will also be marked by showers in a few areas.
