Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro Declares 2027 Presidential Bid

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has declared that he will contest the presidency in the 2027 General Election, saying his name will appear on the ballot paper.
Nyoro made the announcement on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, while addressing residents during a political rally in Mukuyu Murang’a County.
His declaration comes days after he left the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and took over as the leader of the People’s Party of Kenya (PPK).
“I will be on the ballot paper as presidential candidate come 2027-Ndindi Nyoro declares to vie for presidency using his People’s Party.”
Nyoro has also called on opposition parties to support his presidential bid in the 2027 General Election, saying he wants to face President William Ruto.
“I am asking the opposition to make me the flag bearer in 2027 to deal with Ruto,” said Nyoro.
Ndindi Nyoro Outlines Priorities During People’s Tour
Nyoro also used the Mukuyu edition of his People’s Tour to outline some of the issues he would prioritise if elected president.
Free Basic Education
In a post on his X account, Nyoro thanked the people of Murang’a for welcoming him during what he described as the first and inaugural People’s Tour.
“Free Basic Education must be actualised in January 2028,” Nyoro said.
He also listed healthcare among the key areas that would guide his agenda, saying the sector must receive greater attention.

Jobs Creation a Priority
Ndindi Nyoro said job creation would also be a major priority, calling for the adoption of policies that would create more employment opportunities for Kenyans.
“Right policies for Jobs creation must be top priority,” he said.
The Kiharu MP thanked the people of Murang’a for turning up to welcome him during the tour.
“Asanteni sana Wadosi wangu,” he added.
Nyoro then emphasized his African identity and his focus on the continent.
“We are African and Africa is our Business,” he said.

Nyoro Warns Mt Kenya Politicians
Ndindi Nyoro also issued a warning to Mt Kenya politicians leaving UDA and seeking to join the People’s Party of Kenya (PPK).
Addressing residents in Mukuyu, he said those who previously insulted former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua should not expect to join the party without first making peace with the DCP leader.
He said politicians must take responsibility for their past remarks and actions before seeking new political alliances.
