NLAS Announces 95 Job Vacancies Across Kenya as Applications Open Until August 14

The National Legal Aid Service (NLAS) has opened applications for 78 job vacancies across multiple departments, with opportunities available in legal services, administration, finance, human resource management, information technology, and support services.

In a notice dated July 14, NLAS invited interested and qualified Kenyan citizens to apply for the positions before the August 14, 2026, deadline.

“The Board invites applications from interested and qualified Kenyan Citizens to fill the following positions,” read part of the notice.

NLAS is a state agency established under the Legal Aid Act to administer Kenya’s national legal aid programme by providing legal aid services to vulnerable and indigent persons, promoting legal literacy and supporting access to justice.

According to NLAS, the vacancies include Director/Chief Executive Officer, Senior Deputy Director for Legal Aid, Senior Deputy Director for Human Resource and Administration, Deputy Director positions in administration, ICT, finance and accounts, planning, corporate communications, supply chain management, and internal audit and risk assurance.

The agency is also seeking to recruit Assistant Directors, Principal Officers, Senior Legal Aid Officers, Legal Aid Officers, Legal Clerks, Human Resource Management Officers, Supply Chain Management Assistants, Accountants, Record Management Assistants, and Drivers.

Additionally, NLAS noted that Grades 1, 2, and 3 will be offered on three-year renewable contracts, while all other positions are permanent and pensionable.

How to Apply and Requirements

NLAS said all applications must be submitted online through their  recruitment@nlas.go.ke  before 5:00 p.m. on August 14, 2026.

Applicants are required to submit:

  • A copy of their national identity card.
  • Certified copies of academic and professional certificates.
  • Relevant supporting documents and testimonials.
  • A detailed curriculum vitae with three referees.

The agency also directed applicants to indicate the specific position and reference number in their application letters.

NLAS further stressed that hard copy applications will not be accepted, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

The agency also said successful candidates must meet the Chapter Six leadership and integrity requirements before receiving appointment letters.

In addition, candidates will be required to present clearance certificates from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), a Credit Reference Bureau (CRB), and the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) or provide proof of ongoing loan repayments.

NLAS further warned that canvassing in any form will result in automatic disqualification and reiterated that it does not charge any fee during the recruitment process.

Meanwhile, the agency highlighted that candidates can access detailed job descriptions and qualification requirements through the National Legal Aid Service website before submitting their applications.
