Nairobi Metropolitan Area Transport Authority Announces 13 Senior Management Vacancies

The Nairobi Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (NaMATA) has announced 13 senior management job vacancies, inviting suitably qualified Kenyan citizens to apply before the September 15, 2026, deadline.
Established through the Nairobi Metropolitan Area Transport Authority Order, 2017 (Legal Notice No. 18 of 2017), NaMATA covers the five counties that make up the Nairobi Metropolitan Area: Nairobi, Kajiado, Machakos, Murang’a and Kiambu.
The authority plans, regulates and coordinates the supply of adequate and effective Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) services in the Nairobi Metropolitan Area (NMA).
Against this mandate, its Board of Directors has invited qualified Kenyan citizens to apply for the advertised positions.
NaMATA Lists 13 Senior Management Jobs
The authority has advertised nine senior management positions, comprising 13 vacancies at Deputy Director and Assistant Director levels. The available jobs are:
- Deputy Director, Infrastructure Development — Grade 3, 1 position
- Deputy Director, Network Management — Grade 3, 1 position
- Deputy Director, Corporate Policy, Research & Strategy — Grade 3, 1 position
- Deputy Director, Legal Services — Grade 3, 1 position
- Assistant Director, Infrastructure Development — Grade 4, 3 positions
- Assistant Director, Network Management — Grade 4, 3 positions
- Assistant Director, Legal Services — Grade 4, 1 position
- Assistant Director, Human Resource & Administration — Grade 4, 1 position
- Assistant Director, Supply Chain Management — Grade 4, 1 position
The four Deputy Director positions account for four vacancies, while the five Assistant Director positions account for nine, bringing the total to 13 jobs.
Meanwhile, NaMATA said successful candidates will serve under the terms outlined in the respective job profiles.
The Board will determine their salaries and other benefits, guided by the State Corporations and Advisory Committee (SCAC) in consultation with the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).

Applicants Must Meet Chapter Six Requirements
In addition to meeting the specific qualifications for their preferred positions, successful applicants must fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
They must also obtain and submit valid clearance certificates from the following organisations upon receiving an offer of appointment:
- Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) — Individual Tax Compliance Certificate
- Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
- Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) — Certificate of Good Conduct
- An approved Credit Reference Bureau
The authority said it will not consider applications that lack the relevant qualifications, required documentation or requested details.

Women and PWDs Are Encouraged to Apply
Beyond the mandatory qualifications, NaMATA has encouraged applicants from diverse backgrounds to seek the opportunities.
“NaMATA is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity and gender equality. Persons living with disability (PWDs), women and those from marginalized areas are encouraged to apply,” the authority said.
However, the authority has warned applicants against canvassing. It stated that any form of canvassing shall lead to automatic disqualification.
Application Requirements and Deadline
Candidates who meet the requirements must ensure their applications reach NaMATA by September 15, 2026, at 12:00 noon.
Applicants must prepare a curriculum vitae containing:
- Daytime contact details
- Current and expected salary
- Notice period required to take up the appointment
- Names and contacts of three referees
They must also attach copies of all certificates and testimonials, as well as a copy of their National ID or passport.

NaMATA to Submit Shortlist to EACC
After shortlisting, NaMATA will forward the names of shortlisted candidates to the Ethics & Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for clearance before contacting them.
“Names of the shortlisted candidates will be forwarded to the Ethics & Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for clearance. Only those cleared by the EACC shall be contacted,” the authority stated.
