The Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met) has announced that most parts of the country will experience dry weather from June 16 to June 22, 2026, with only a few regions expected to receive rainfall.

According to the latest weekly outlook, the general weather pattern will be cool, with limited rainfall, even as some areas experience cloudy conditions at different times of the day.

Kenya Met indicates that cool and cloudy conditions will be felt from time to time in parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands, the Rift Valley, and North-eastern Kenya.

Residents in these areas should expect chilly mornings and evenings, followed by occasional sunshine during the day.

The cold conditions are expected to be more noticeable in highland areas, where temperatures usually drop significantly at night.

KMD Says Rainfall Expected in Selected Areas

While most of the country will remain dry, some regions are likely to receive rainfall.

Parts of the Highlands, East and West of the Rift Valley may experience occasional rain.

These include areas such as Central Kenya and regions around the Rift Valley.

The Coastal region is also expected to receive some rainfall during the week, although this will not be widespread.

In addition, North-eastern Kenya may record light to moderate rainfall in some areas, even as temperatures in the region remain relatively high compared to other parts of the country.

Dry Conditions in Most Parts

The forecast shows that many areas across the country will receive little or no rainfall, making dry weather the main feature for the week.

This means that several regions will continue to experience long dry periods, with only brief changes in weather in areas expected to receive rain.

Public Advisory

Kenya Met has advised Kenyans, especially those living in colder regions, to keep warm by wearing appropriate clothing, particularly in the early morning and late evening hours.

Residents are also encouraged to stay informed through regular weather updates, especially in areas where rainfall is expected.

Despite the cold and cloudy conditions, sunny intervals will still be experienced in many parts of the country, providing some relief during the day.
