Kenya Power Announces Planned Blackout in Parts of Nairobi and Five Other Counties Today

Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions in parts of Nairobi, Kilifi, Siaya, Busia, Kakamega and Bungoma counties today, Sunday, May 31, 2026.

On a notice shared on Saturday, May 30, 2026, the company informed customers that the scheduled outages are part of routine network maintenance aimed at improving the electricity supply.

Kenya Power advised affected customers to check the latest maintenance schedule and make the necessary preparations ahead of the interruption.

Nairobi County

In Nairobi, the power interruption will affect parts of Kamukunji from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Part of Kirinyaga Kamukunji Police, Kamukunji Mall, Quickmart OTC, Mathai S/Mkt, Racecourse Rd, Rd, OTC, Namakima & adjacent customers.

Siaya County

Several areas across Siaya County will be without electricity from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

The affected locations include:

Ambira Hosp, Ligega, Got Nanga, Sihayi, Uhuru, Ramunde, Indangalasia, Konyango, Sega, Lunjire, Nyambiro, Ligala, Komolo College, Kodongo, Ugunja Town, Ambira, Ukwala, Aboke, Obet, Ratado, Rambula, Mbosie, Uhuru Mkt, Luhano, Miyare, Humwend, Kolali, Nyaharwa, Got Odima, Got Rembo, Shifuyo, Ugenya TVC. In Busia County, power will be off from 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.

Areas set to be affected include:

Mundika, Busia Sugar Factory, Nasewa Industrial Park, SUO Water, Matyos, Bumusiru, Shibale, Ruambua, Hakati, Bunyala, Port Victoria, Budalangi, Bumala Mkt, Ligingo, Nang’ina, Sioport, Bumbe, Shishenyi, Funyula, Sijowa, Muramba, Butula Boys, Masende Valleys, Bar-Ober, Buria, Bumala Mkt, Kennedale, Busiada, Buhalire, Harambe Irrigation Scheme, Ruambua H/C, Mau-Mau, Mabinzu, Rukala Makunda & adjacent customers.

Kakamega County

Customers around Mumias Sugar Factory will experience a power outage from 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.

The interruption will affect the factory and adjacent customers.

In Bungoma County, the planned maintenance will affect Rai Paper Factory and surrounding customers between 9.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m.

Kilifi County

In Kilifi County, customers in Jumbo, Rabai, and Kombeni areas will experience a blackout from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.

Affected locations include:
