Laikipia County Asks Kenyans to Share Their Views: Here’s How to Submit

Laikipia County Extends Budget Views Deadline to June 10.

The Laikipia County Assembly has extended the public participation deadline for the 2026/2027 budget estimates and has asked all residents, investors, civil society organizations, amongst others to submit their memoranda by June 10, 2026.

Budget and Appropriations committee had issued a notice inviting interested parties as part of their obligation in Article 196 (1) (b) of the Constitution of Kenya, as read with Section 5 of the Laikipia County Public Participation Act, 2014 and wishes to hear views from interested Members of the public, Investors, Civil Society Organizations, Community Based Organizations, Faith Based Organizations, Non-Governmental Organizations and special interest groups.

Acting Clerk Gichuki Waweru said that the notice applied to the Laikipia County Budget Estimates for the 2026/2027 Financial Year and stated that “written and signed memoranda will only be accepted”.

Laikipia County Methods of Public Input

“The submissions may be forwarded to the Clerk of the County Assembly of Laikipia, P.O. Box 487-10400, Nanyuki,” read a statement by Waweru.

“Residents can also hand-deliver the memorandum to the office of the Clerk, Assembly Building 2nd Floor, Nanyuki,” or electronically at info@laikipiaassembly.go.ke, with the deadline for all submissions being Wednesday, 10th June, 2026,” confirmed Waweru.

The draft budget estimates are available for inspection and review from the Assembly’s website at http://www.laikipiaassembly.go.ke and will also be accessible at the respective Sub-County Administrators’ offices as well as at the Community Libraries in Nanyuki and Rumuruti to cater for residents with limited internet access.

Civic Engagement in Local Governance

The notice was signed by acting Clerk Gichuki Waweru, as the Acting Clerk of the County Assembly of Laikipia, the Third Assembly, Fifth Session, under the office of the clerk.

According to the notice, the reason is to make written and signed submissions/comments and or inputs/memorandums on Laikipia County Budget Estimates for 2026/2027 Financial year and this, the county added is part of its legal obligation for the Laikipia County.
