Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohamed Amin has linked former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to the murder of psychiatrist Dr. Victoria Nthunya Mutiso.

Speaking on Friday, August 7, Amin claimed that Gachagua was in communication with one of the key suspects involved in the murder as well as the boda boda rider allegedly involved in the fatal shooting.

“Gachagua was in communication with one of the suspects in the Dr Mutiso murder. Gachagua was also in communication with the boda boda rider,” Amin said.

Amin stated that the former DP should have shared the information with DCI if he meant well for the investigation process.

“If really Rigathi Gachagua meant well for these investigations, because we are not trying to deal with politics, then he should have shared the information with investigators,” Amin added.

Besides, the DCI said officers arrested the suspects on the evening of Thursday, August 7, as they were attempting to flee and were nearly crossing the border.

Amin questioned why a politician would want to interfere with DCI investigations.

Gachagua accused the DCI investigators of trying to cover up the murder by implicating some boda boda riders as the suspects.

In a statement issued before the DCI press conference, Gachagua said he had the names of the three police officers involved in the cover-up and threatened to release them to the public.

“Bwana DCI, I have seen you have called a press conference to cover up the police killers of Dr Victoria Nthunya Mutiso and then fix some boda boda riders. I have the names of the three police killers from Murkomen’s community whom you have been instructed to cover up. We shall release the details after your presser if you attempt a cover-up,” Gachagua said.

He asked the DCI to name the police officers involved, claiming that he had received intel from and is about to end the cover-up of such incidents.

“You must name the inspector from Kikuyu Police Station, the constable from the same police station and the other constable from Karinde police post. Good officers have given me all the details and your days of covering up killings by police officers must come to an end. Also, bwana DCI, allow the Nairobi sierra killer squad you have transferred out of Nairobi to attend the presser. They want to tell Kenyans and name the persons who have been instructing them and how they are now being victimized,” Gachagu added.
