Safaricom

Safaricom has launched a major upgrade to its My OneApp, introducing new features designed to make the app faster, easier to use, and enhance the digital experience for customers in Kenya.

The newest version of this app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store on Android phones or the App Store on iOS devices.

The latest update aligns with Safaricom’s strategy of transforming My OneApp into a unified digital platform that integrates M-PESA services, airtime top-ups, internet bundles, Home Fibre services, Bonga Points, mini-apps, and customer care into a single application.

Since launching this app instead of the previous M-PESA app this year, My OneApp has been constantly updated.

My OneApp Easier Navigation via Mini Apps

The other main highlight about the update is a new layout for the mini-apps section.

According to Safaricom, the updated user interface is much more straightforward to navigate, enabling users to quickly find commonly used apps without having to go through a lot of menu options.

Over time, the telecommunications firm has been updating its My OneApp service to make important functionalities like balance inquiries and airtime purchases easily accessible to customers.

Enhancement of Home Fibre Internet Management

Subscribers of the Home Fibre service will also have something to gain from the new update.

Safaricom has added a Secure Internet management feature to the Home Fibre section of My OneApp, allowing customers to manage their internet security settings directly through the app from the comfort of their homes.

Improved Roaming Management

Safaricom has also introduced a roaming management feature to My OneApp.

Users travelling outside Kenya can now activate roaming services and purchase roaming packages directly through the app.

Previously, many customers had to use USSD codes or other channels to activate roaming services.

The new feature simplifies travel preparations and helps users stay connected while abroad.

Flexible Payment Methods

Safaricom has also enhanced payment flexibility within My OneApp.

Customers can now choose from multiple payment methods on a single screen instead of navigating through several screens to pay for services.

The various payment methods offered are as follows:

  • M-PESA
  • Bonga Points
  • ShirikiPay

Quickly Established Ratiba Standing Orders

The update also enhances Ratiba, Safaricom’s recurring payment service.

Customers can now set up Ratiba standing orders more quickly, making it easier to automate regular payments.

Part of a Larger Digital Platform

The latest update comes as Safaricom continues to expand My OneApp beyond a traditional self-service platform.

According to the official description on the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store, My OneApp integrates M-PESA balances, airtime, data bundles, SMS, Bonga Points, Home Fibre services, investments, insurance, borrowing services, and customer care into a single platform.

The app also supports advanced features such as AI Pay, Scan to Pay QR, and NFC payments, where available.

Safaricom has rolled out several updates to My OneApp in recent months, adding new features while improving the app’s user interface and overall performance.
